Brest Festival 13th - 19th July 2012
2012 is the 20th Anniversary of this sailing festival with boats from many nations taking part.
With more than 2,500 boats from the four corners of the world, every four years a million visitors come to witness this incredible maritime festival. Every four years, the harbour in Brest is the setting for a display from another era, before an audience of boating enthusiasts.

Some 30 countries are invited to each festival and for one week Brest is transformed into the biggest port in the world. Over 7 kilometres, the quaysides roll out the red carpet to hundred-year-old sailing boats and other remarkable vessels. An invincible armada, with around 20,000 sailors parading their uniforms to the tune of dozens of musical performances and the backdrop of villages draped in the colours of the world. Watch the races or admire the boats in action, climb aboard and even go out to sea ... everything is designed to make the Brest Maritime Festival a global exhibition of the maritime world.
Whydah will sail to Brittany from the West Country port of Falmouth on 9th or 10th July to arrive in Brest by 12th July
You can join the vessel on 8th July, sail to Brittany and take part in the Brest Festival and, if you wish, continue on to Douarnenez or you can make your own way back to the UK via the ferry port of Roscoff or fly out from Brest International Airport.

Douarnenez Temps Fete 19th - 22nd July 2012
We sail from Brest to Douarnenez in just a few hours with the whole fleet in a spectacular array of traditonal craft. Although this is a smaller event than the festival at Brest it still offers a wide range of shoreside activities, art exhibitions, traditional music and wonderful food. It is a multi-national event, full of colour, music and gaiety which lasts from early morning to the early hours of the following day.
